The International Baccalaureate and Selectividad

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers internationally recognised preparation for university and adult life. IB students consistently demonstrate the critical thinking and research skills they need to excel in their university studies. They also tend to gain admission to the best universities in the world.

Our approaches to learning and teaching enable IB students to develop transferable skills and attributes that will serve them for life, such as critical thinking, international mindedness, creativity, agency and resilience.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) equips students aged 3 to 19 with transferable skills that prepare them for the future and internationally recognised qualifications.

Our approaches to learning and teaching enable IB students to develop transferable skills and attributes that will serve them for life, such as critical thinking, international mindedness, creativity, agency and resilience.

Some of the world’s most selective universities recognise the IB diploma and consider our students to be among the highest achievers in their subject areas. The IB sends final transcripts to some 5,000 universities in 100 countries, including top destinations in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong and India.

Universities and higher education institutions enjoy the advantages of selecting and accepting IB students in many ways, as IB programmes develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions that students need to succeed in their university studies.

Guidance for choosing IB courses

The IB courses in which a student chooses to enrol can play an important role in the student’s application for admission to university. Our course selection guidance can help you decide on the combination of Middle Level and Higher Level subjects that will be most helpful in achieving your goals.

Evaluation

Assessment is a fundamental component of any educational programme and plays a key role in both supporting and measuring learning. Today, IB assessment is widely recognised for its ambitious standards of academic integrity.

Students’ final grade certificates

This is an official document stating the student’s results, which can be sent directly to a higher education institution such as a university. However, these certificates are not sent to students or other organisations.

Important deadlines for university and professional advisors

No later than three weeks after the examinations.

The coordinator or the school’s university and vocational adviser must send the IB a request to send the final transcripts to be legalised.

Before the publication of results

In order to be able to send the final transcripts, the coordinator or the school’s university and careers advisor must have the list of the universities chosen by each student.

End of September

In the case of requests for legalisation of the May examination session, the schools will receive the legalised results documents and the corresponding invoice.

 End of March

In the case of requests for legalisation of the November examination session, the schools will receive the legalised results documents and the corresponding invoice.
